Spathiphyllum, the technical name for the peace lily, is a common houseplant that is prized for its exquisite white blossoms and verdant leaves. It is indigenous to tropical regions of Central and South America as well as Southeast Asia and is a member of the Araceae family. Although they may not bloom as much in low light, peace lilies can withstand lower light levels and do best in bright, indirect light. They are prized for their air-purifying properties, which help lower indoor pollutants, and they are simple to maintain.
